I met Kyle in Kindergarten. We became best friends, and continued to stay friends until around third or fourth grade when I moved away. He always used to draw and be an artist. He was way better then me then, and he is way waybetter then me now. We lost touch for a very long time, until I got invited on Facebook to a gallery showing in Philadelphia. I clicked the link and viola, it was Kyle. I looked at his stuff and instantly loved it. Existing in a strange and chaotic realm, Kogut’s absurd figures entwine with their environment through meticulous line work and dense organic mark making. He resides in Philadelphia, and he recently graduated from Tyler. He is currently experimenting on new work, traveling, and seeking new showing possibilities. His work can be found on his website, while other projects can be found on his tumblr. I’m glad we got back in touch, and I’m excited for future collaborations between Kyle and Local Ghosts. Interview in the works, maybe.
